foolscap sign in carry on writing
Say it out loud and it is written down. Tiro reads over your shoulder: he cuts, he structures, he tells you when a paragraph is you clearing your throat. He does not write your prose and he cannot — every word that ends up in your book came out of your mouth.

Make this into a chapter for me.
No. There are two ideas here and you have not decided which one you believe. Everything before “we keep the sound and lose the room” is you clearing your throat. Shall I cut it?
| Free | nothing | 1 hour of fast transcription a month, 20 instructions |
|---|---|---|
| Writer | €12 a month | 10 hours, 200 instructions — a book a quarter |
| Author | €29 a month | 40 hours, 600 instructions — dictating most days |
| Custom | tell me | Your work does not fit the three above — a thesis with citations, a script, a language it has never heard. Say what you need and we will talk about building it. |
Run out and nothing stops. Dictation carries on with the transcriber on our own machine, which is slower and punctuates less well and costs nothing to run. There is no bill for going over, and no sentence interrupted to sell you something. If you want more instructions before the month turns, a hundred more cost €7 and do not expire — bought when you decide to, never charged automatically.
The fool’s cap above is a real watermark, from a sheet of paper made in 1677. Paper carrying it was called foolscap, and the name outlived the mark.
